Grattan Raceway & Three Generations of Community Commitment
To our family, friends, neighbors, and supporters:
For more than 70 years and across three generations, Grattan Raceway has been part of this community. Throughout that time, we have worked hard to be good neighbors and give back to the township we call home.
Over the years, we have supported the Grattan Township Fire Department through numerous donations, including the departments very first set of Jaws of Life, equipment that helped first responders save lives in Grattan and surrounding communities. Our contributions have also helped provide an ice rescue sled and other important equipment.
Many families will remember the annual Halloween parties we hosted for years. We have also welcomed residents with a Grattan Township address to enjoy free admission at our gate. These traditions reflect our appreciation for the community and the people who have supported us.
Grattan Raceway pays thousands upon thousands of dollars in township taxes each year and has contributed to this community for decades. We believe that history deserves consideration when officials discuss our property and its future.
This is the second time we have faced a costly dispute with the township. The first time we went through this, it cost us nearly $50,000. Facing another dispute is frustrating, and we hope no other township resident or business has to experience the same situation.
Once again we have to ask, why are we being treated this way by our own township board? After decades of supporting this community, we deserve better. We sincerely hope no other township resident or business has to go through what we have

Make your voice heard during the township’s 63-day master plan review. Contact township officials, submit written comments, and attend public meetings. Ask that the plan recognize Grattan Raceway’s longstanding place in our community and support its continued operation.
Share what the track means to you and ask that your comments be forwarded to the Township Board and Planning Commission for consideration during the master plan review.

About Grattan Raceway / History
Grattan Raceway, considered one of the finest road course in America, just 25 miles N.E. of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Picturesque two-miles course with ten challenging turn, 3,200 ft. straight, averages 40 ft. wide, to provide an excellent racing surface. Grattan Also offer is 1.25miles Motocross course, Great Lake MX.
Grattan Raceway is considered one of the finest road courses in America, just 25 miles northeast of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Picturesque two-mile course with ten challenging turns, 3,200 ft. straight, averages 40 ft. wide, to provide an excellent racing surface. The newly repaved two-mile course is a winding, hilly complex assortment of almost every conceivable corner imaginable in a road course. The ten include both uphill ascending and descending radius turns, a flat-out dog leg off the 160-degree hairpin turn, a hidden apex, A Monza bowl, ess turns, and even a downhill reverse camber turn. It has been said that if you can master Grattan Raceway you can drive anywhere. Drivers from all types of racing (Indy cars, Tran AM, Motorcycle, S.C.C.A., and Go-Karts) practice or race at Grattan, and have nothing but praise for its design and beauty. The surface drains extremely well during rain and dries quickly. The maximum amount of run-off has been provided around the track, with Armco-protected corner stations as are all hazards where a danger may exist to either the driver or others.
Grattan allows spectators the most viewing surface to watch with up to 90% of the racetrack visible from one seat. Restrooms are tiled and clean, with showers. Paved paddock area and garage units for the racing team’s comfort, located in the middle of the course. Located just 20 minutes N.E. of Grand Rapids, Michigan, where hotel and motel accommodations can be arranged, close to major shopping centers with fine dining throughout the area
